This is an open wiki for unsigned bands.

Wikibands has been created to help organise the chaos of searching for "unsigned bands" online. This wiki is an opportunity for all bands and singer songwriters, past the present and future, to create a simple reference place that allows basic factual information to be stored online with appropriate links for further information embedded into their designated page forever. It is a catagorised, searchable database of all unsigned acts. It is therefore crucial that your music genre, along with any other associated keywords that best explain what you do, is included. There is a 'soundalike' section for you to propogate which will also give people a chance to find you. This site is to be created by you and will be maintained by volunteers, so please get in touch if you also have a passion for this important music project and would like to be involved. Without your support it won't succeed.

The more acts recorded on here, the better - so get sharing right now ! This is not a reference library for famous acts signed up to major record labels that are well looked after, this is a place for all those bands you either follow as a fan, currently play in or have played in at some time in the not too distant past. If you are signed to your own label that's fine, it's really only those acts that are signed to major labels that we can't support on this site.

If you are a wiki novice and wish to add a band, due to the amount of spam we were getting, YOU MUST REGISTER FIRST BEFORE YOU CREATE YOUR PAGE. Simply click the login/register link above, then when you have completed registration (really quick and simple)search for your band name in the top right hand search box. If the band does not yet exist, then you will be given the option to "Create the Page", click this. There is a default template associated with each new page. Please follow our suggested format or improve on it if you have the wiki know-how.

All bands pages on this wiki will be automatically listed below until someone comes up with a better suggestion of what to do with that space. I suggest a "recommended act of the day" link is created at random.

What is wikibands?

Wikkibands is a movement to allow you to help in organising the world's unsigned recording music artists, from all musical genres. From Rap to Rock, Folk to Funk, Classical to Country, we want you to help us create a searchable archive of artists and bands from the past, the present and the future. The rules will develop as we grow as a community, but as a start point they have to be unsigned acts only - that are not currently signed to a major label. They may even have only played a couple of gigs to date, but they MUST have performed and been a proper live gigging band. If you are that person or band, or you simply know acts that deserve to be archived, then please share your information with wiki and let's create a brand new database that can be referenced, searched and used to discover these uncaptured geniuses from our past, present and more importantly our future.
